First off, Happy Nondenominational Capitalist Gift-giving Season to all. I hope your respective family get-togetherswere enjoyable. Now onto all things game/drunkserver related:
With the release of 1.0.1 of Minecraft, we started up our server a bit early. I had initially planned on our 1.0 updateto be more complete, but alas it wasnt. Many delays later, the new permission system is almost configured properly. Thispermission system was different than the one we were used to, so I had to learn a few new syntaxes for nodes and whole bunchof other things that I wont bore you with.
I will let you in on what this update involves. A new permission system will better let us manage permissions on the fly,so if there is a problem, we can fix it rapidly. We are ditching the Simple Prefix plugin as it is unnecessary and we aregetting the HeroChat plugin. This plugin features different chat channels for players to use at their leisure. Anyone canmake a channel (although well remove unnecessary ones) and keep the chat stream filled with relevant information. There isalso a local option, so only players within a certain radius will hear you talking. The final plugin we are fullyimplementing is Multiverse. We have been using it so far on the 1.0 update, but when the new permissions are put into placeyou all can see the changes it will bring (and are expecting).
Anyway, it seems that I will be doing most of the minecraft admin work for a while. Gephorian is off working, drinking or attemptingto be drinking, so Ill be handling most things for now. Major decisions and permissions will still need Gephs approval,so those make take a day or so. It is still his server afterall. I apologize for the permissions taking so long. Finals andthe holiday season have kept me busy (also occasionally Skyrim). Feel free to send any major questions or concerns to our email.
ALSO, please continue to pay attention to SOPA. While intellectual property is all well and good, destroying how the internetfunctions is not the direction we should be going. This is definitely something that shouldnt be passed (even some majorrewrites would not be acceptable). If you are not old enough to vote, please go read a thing or two about it. If you are oldenough to vote, find some petitions online. Either way, spread the word: the internet as we know it may fail to exist otherwise.
