Would you look at that? Titles for our posts...marvelous. Not what this post is about though. Recent events have motioned me to discuss some of our unofficial (but still posted) rules. Some of these rules are specific to games, while most can be globally applied. At any rate, I think we need to have a little discussion on them. After this, Ill be rewriting a portion of the rules page to reflect this post.
Since you are on our server, you obviously know a bit about the internet. You got here, didnt you? The internet isnt always the friendliest of places, so some of us grow a thick skin towards some of the more...scarring comments. Youll have to as well, since not everyone is going to be nice or fair.
That being said, we aim to provide a semi controlled server, where hate speech and general asshat-ery is kept to a minimum. We have a small handful of rules on our servers that we refer to as Gentlemans Rules. These are rules we expect you to know as functional people. Why do we have these written down? Because, sometimes we need to evoke them to uphold a certain level of acceptable player behavior. Please try to remember them.
(1) Be Respectful.
(2) Dont act childish.
(3) Dont be a dick.
Ill explain these in terms of our minecraft server, but the explination can be expanded to fit others. Being respectful in our minecraft server means respecting other peoples creations. Dont deface them, dont break them apart, respect the boundaries they have made, and try not to ruin the asthetics that they are trying to produce. Just because we allow PvP on our server doesnt mean you should ruin their creations.
Childish is a very broad term, and we realize some of you may still be children. That is irrelevant since you are allowed online. We do not have an age limit, and we probably never will (barring legal circumstances, etc). We expect you to act and play like a respectable person. This means that letting arguments break down into a swear-athon, xbox live style is not approved at all. This kind of argument makes everyone involved look like tools and solves nothing.
The last rule is pretty much our catch all. Throughout life you will learn what things qualify as "being a dick." Spawn camping, four hour long harassment, and general asshat-ery all fall under this category. This kind of play isnt fun. Maybe to you, but thats why you are considered a dick for doing it.
